Manchester City FC transfer news: Benfica goalkeeper Ederson set to sign for world-record £35m fee

Source: Talksport.com
Manchester City are on the verge of making Benfica goalkeeper Ederson their second summer signing.

The Premier League have agreed a fee of around £35million with the Portuguese club for the 23-year-old.
The deal will make the Brazilian the most expensive goalkeeper of all-time, beating the £32.6m paid byJuventus for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001.
Ederson is due to arrive in Manchester on Monday to finalise a move to the Etihad.
He played for Benfica in Sunday's 2-1 cup final victory over Vitoria de Guimaraes and admitted to reporters after the match he had "probably" made his last appearance for the club.
City are expected to make a host of big signings this summer after Pep Guardiola ended his first season in charge without any silverware.
Portuguese playmaker Bernado Silva has already arrived from Monaco in a £45million deal.
City are also understood to be chasing another Monaco star -  Benjamin Mendy - and Tottenham defender Kyle Walker.

Jules Rimet handed it to Obdulio Varela – albeit in bizarre circumstances – at the Maracana in 1950, and though  La Celeste reached the semi-finals on three occasions thereafter, they have never gone further, losing to Hungary in 1954, Brazil in 1970, and the Netherlands in 2010. Eight teams have shorter odds of winning Russia 2018 than Uruguay, but that does not stop the Atletico Madrid centre-back from dreaming big. “There isn’t a day goes by that I stop thinking about the World Cup,” Godin told  Radio Rincón . “I dream of lifting the Trophy – of course, I do. “We qualified for the World Cup well. The important thing is that no-one gets injured, that everyone is right physically.”Godin believes the secret to Uruguay’s prosperity under Oscar Tabarez – t...
