Choosing the perfect football boots

1. What condition are you playing?

Firstly, what condition are you going to play the boots on? Winter or Summer? Are they studded or rubber? It all sounds silly, but if you don't think about this you will end up with the wrong pair of boots (every player's nightmare)

2. What are they made of?

This is also fundamental to your choice of football boots. Leather is still so many people's favourite, but synthetics are very acceptable these days and have some interesting properties.
Beware as some synthetics are gotten at low prices they are counter-productive to a good feel of the ball, they make you feel like you're wearing a pair of galoshes (A rubber boot that is slipped over shoes)
On top of this, some synthetics have no breathability, so your foot get very clammy very quickly.

3. Comfort

If they are not comfortable, don't buy them. Good craftmanship wins over ganish fads, and they are alot of them these days

4. Lightness and Suppleness

Lightness and suppleness are always key indicators if a boot is well made. The perfect boot is always rigid where it needs to be but flexible elsewhere. It should be stiff from toe to heel and supple width ways, where the foot naturally bends.

5. Pick your boots according to the position you play

Your position on the field should always help determine the type of footwear to choose. Your playing style will also play a part in the selection of the perfect boots for the job, with lighter boots for faster players and those who run less needing a stouter, more protective boots.

Basic guideline:

Defender, Goalkeeper - Strong well made boots that enhances stability. Needs a firm grip that help to prevent slipping.

Forward, Winger - Lighter weight, soft leather with light studs. Provide acceleration and great accuracy.

Central Midfield, Wingback - Classic boots that suits the condition of the pitch. Must allow accurate passing, crossing and shooting.

Striker - Almost any good boot will do the work as far as it is light, flexible and "lets move quickly".

6. Value for money

Some manufacturers produce "top end" football boots amd bring them down to lower price point. This is good value.
So shop around, use common sense and see which brand is full of it and at a valuable price.

7. Conclusion

Wearing the right pair of boots can make all the difference tobyour comfort and safety, and even to your ability to play a great game. Get the fit right, pick a boot that works well with your usual pitch condition and player position, and then go for the best quality that you can find for you money.
