Pogba, Neymar snubbed in Fifa FIFPro World XI

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Barcelona's forward Neymar have been left out of the team of the year to be revealed on Monday night.
Despite becoming world's most expensive footballer last summer, Manchester United's Pogba was not voted into the side by fellow professionals.
Barcelona’s Brazilian playmaker Neymar, despite being regarded as one of the best in the world, has had a poor season at the Nou Camp.

And according to Goal, Pogba missed out on the World XI, named by fellow professionals all over the world, by just two votes as he struggled to adapt to the Premier League – although recently his performances have markedly improved.
Pogba’s ex-Juventus team-mate Gianluigi Buffon enjoyed a brilliant 2016 despite being 38, but also just failed to make the XI as he was voted the second-best goalkeeper on the planet by fellow professionals.
Neymar won the double with Barcelona and claimed a gold medal at the Olympic Games with Brazil, but three other forwards finished above him in the poll as his scoring return did not match previous seasons.
The 2016 FIFA FIFPro World 11 will be revealed in full at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich tonight.
At the ceremony, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be named FIFA World Player of the Year.
FIFPro is the worldwide representative organisation for all professional footballers, and 26,516 players from 69 countries voted for the FIFA FIFPro 11.

Each professional from all leagues are entitled a vote through FIFPro's global network of player associations and the FIFA FIFPro 11 has been chosen annually since 2005.
The final line-up is arranged in a 4-3-3 formation, and last year's team was as follows:
Manuel Neuer; Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, Marcelo; Paul Pogba, Luka Modric, Andres Iniesta; Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar.

Godin: I dream of lifting the cup

Source: FIFA.com Diego Godin has revealed he cannot stop thinking about the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and expressed his desire to become the first Uruguayan in 68 years to lift the Trophy. Jules Rimet handed it to Obdulio Varela – albeit in bizarre circumstances – at the Maracana in 1950, and though  La Celeste reached the semi-finals on three occasions thereafter, they have never gone further, losing to Hungary in 1954, Brazil in 1970, and the Netherlands in 2010. Eight teams have shorter odds of winning Russia 2018 than Uruguay, but that does not stop the Atletico Madrid centre-back from dreaming big. “There isn’t a day goes by that I stop thinking about the World Cup,” Godin told  Radio Rincón . “I dream of lifting the Trophy – of course, I do. “We qualified for the World Cup well. The important thing is that no-one gets injured, that everyone is right physically.”Godin believes the secret to Uruguay’s prosperity under Oscar Tabarez – t...
