Chelsea's future: Drogba offers advice to mikel

Source  dailytimes.ng
Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has offered words of advice to Nigerian midfielder Mikel John Obi over his current situation at English Premier League leaders, Chelsea.
The Super Eagles captain is seemingly heading out of Stamford Bridge as he has failed to force his way into Antonio Conte’s plans this season. Mikel’s contract runs out at the end of the season and he does not look like getting a new one. He has not played at all under Conte this season, and will want to get some games under his belt before the campaign is out. French club, Olympique Marseille are reportedly keen on bringing Mikel into their ranks with the midfielder apparently set to join the club during the January transfer window. Mikel has been speaking to his close friend, Drogba about the French side with a view to possibly teaming up with the football club, according to reports. Drogba impressed for Marseille before Jose Mourinho brought him to Chelsea, where he would eventually have Mikel as a teammate, for £24 million in 2004. Mikel is said to respect the Ivorian’s opinion and has picked his brains about life at the Stade Velodrome. Marseille have not won the French league since 2010 and the club are regulars in European competition, which would allow Mikel still showcase his talents in either the Europa League or Champions League if they qualify. Mikel is said to have a big-money offer from China, but is a lot keener on staying in Europe with his young family.

Godin: I dream of lifting the cup

Source: FIFA.com Diego Godin has revealed he cannot stop thinking about the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and expressed his desire to become the first Uruguayan in 68 years to lift the Trophy. Jules Rimet handed it to Obdulio Varela – albeit in bizarre circumstances – at the Maracana in 1950, and though  La Celeste reached the semi-finals on three occasions thereafter, they have never gone further, losing to Hungary in 1954, Brazil in 1970, and the Netherlands in 2010. Eight teams have shorter odds of winning Russia 2018 than Uruguay, but that does not stop the Atletico Madrid centre-back from dreaming big. “There isn’t a day goes by that I stop thinking about the World Cup,” Godin told  Radio Rincón . “I dream of lifting the Trophy – of course, I do. “We qualified for the World Cup well. The important thing is that no-one gets injured, that everyone is right physically.”Godin believes the secret to Uruguay’s prosperity under Oscar Tabarez – t...
