A Christmas message from Komphela

 Source Africanfootball.com
Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has sent a message to the football family and the media to wish them a merry Christmas and a happy New New Year.
The former Bafana Bafana skipper also admitted that the pressure exerted on them as coaches from the supporters and the media makes them better people.

Komphela has experienced a bad run in his stay as Amakhosi mentor after losing the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals last season.
However, this season, he has been escorted by police on a number of occasions as Amakhosi fans expressed displeasure in the team's failure to collect results.
“We wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” said Komphela.

REPORT: CHIEFS TO TOUR ZIMBABWE

‘‘Spend time with family and I hope everything that happened‚ whatever differences were there from a personal and professional level with whoever will come to an end.
‘‘And as we move into 2017‚ we enter as new people‚ with new ideas and fresh energy. Wishing you the very best.”
Speaking about the pressures of leading a big club such as the Naturena-based side, the former Free State Stars, Maritzburg United and Platinum Stars coach adds that he accepts the pressure.
"We appreciate the pressure you put because part of the pressure you put on us does not only build our character but it also reveals our character," adds Komphela.
‘‘Maybe the definition of who we are as we walk is through the challenges and the questions you (media and fans) throw at us.
‘‘So on the back of that we thank you for making us better men‚ better coaches and better people.”
Chiefs will host Ea Lla Koto at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, February 08 in their first match in 2017.

Godin: I dream of lifting the cup

Source: FIFA.com Diego Godin has revealed he cannot stop thinking about the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ and expressed his desire to become the first Uruguayan in 68 years to lift the Trophy. Jules Rimet handed it to Obdulio Varela – albeit in bizarre circumstances – at the Maracana in 1950, and though  La Celeste reached the semi-finals on three occasions thereafter, they have never gone further, losing to Hungary in 1954, Brazil in 1970, and the Netherlands in 2010. Eight teams have shorter odds of winning Russia 2018 than Uruguay, but that does not stop the Atletico Madrid centre-back from dreaming big. “There isn’t a day goes by that I stop thinking about the World Cup,” Godin told  Radio Rincón . “I dream of lifting the Trophy – of course, I do. “We qualified for the World Cup well. The important thing is that no-one gets injured, that everyone is right physically.”Godin believes the secret to Uruguay’s prosperity under Oscar Tabarez – t...
