MOSES'S MAGICAL MOMENT

When Victor Moses arrived at the far post to meet Diego Costa’s cross and fire us into the lead against Tottenham last night, Chelsea players and supporters celebrated wildly, and not just because his 51st-minute strike had turned the game on its head.

Everybody inside the stadium it appeared, aside from those of a Spurs persuasion, were simply delighted for Moses.
It was the standout moment for him in what is rapidly becoming a standout campaign. The winning goal at home to Tottenham which sent us back to the top of the Premier League table.
Moses, once again, was superb for the Blues, impressing to such an extent he walked away with the Man of the Match award for the second game in succession.

The Blues just couldn’t get going in the opening 45 minutes, but Moses was our shining light, constantly demanding the ball, marauding forward and causing Tottenham left-back Kevin Wimmer problems. It's hard to believe, given the consistency of his displays, that last night was only the seventh time he was playing as a wing-back from the start of a game.
The Nigerian has thrived under Conte’s guidance, particularly since the switch in formation, and the Italian spoke of the player’s ability recently.

Last night's goal, as well as being a huge strike in the context of the game, was Moses's fourth of the season. Only Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have netted more times for the Blues.
John Terry, who wasn't involved in the matchday squad last night after being ruled out through injury, also paid tribute to Moses and the form he is currently in shortly after the final whistle.

With each passing week, Moses is becoming a more important player, not to mention a favourite of the Stamford Bridge crowd.
When he was withdrawn in the 80th minute last night, replaced by Branislav Ivanovic for the closing stages, the home supporters rose to salute the Nigerian for another impressive showing. It was no more than he deserved.
For Tottenham, their winless streak at the Bridge goes on.
The fact Gary Lineker was their match-winner the last time they left SW6 with all three points, in February 1990, merely emphasises just how long it’s been. John Bumstead was the Chelsea scorer that day as we were beaten 2-1, again hammering home the length of time which has subsequently passed.
There have been a few occasions in which they’ve come close, most notably in a 2007 FA Cup tie, when the visitors led 3-1 only to be pegged back by goals from Frank Lampard and Salomon Kalou. We then went on to win the replay at White Hart Lane.
Further back, Tottenham led 1-0 in 2011 but goals from Lampard and Kalou ensured we took the points, and in 2003 Gianfranco Zola's exquisite free-kick earned a point for the Blues after we trailed in the game.
In February 1995, Spurs looked to be heading back to north London with all three points after Teddy Sheringham had scored an early opener. Dennis Wise, however, struck late on in a match which ended 1-1.
Last season, of course, they were 2-0 up at half-time, before goals from Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard earned us a point, securing Leicester City the Premier League title in the process.

Again, last night, they took the lead courtesy of Christian Eriksen's fierce left-footed drive early in the game, but Pedro's superb equaliser on the stroke of half-time altered the complexion of the contest before Moses struck the winner.
Of course, during that intervening period there have been numerous emphatic Chelsea wins, most recently 3-0 in December 2015 and 4-0 the previous season.
The Bridge is certainly no happy hunting ground for our London rivals.
